Unicycle-powered Pot Stirrer
I had two days left in my winter break, so what else was I going to do?
My brother’s broken unicycle had been in the garage for years, so I removed the tire and used the rim as a pulley, passed the belt through two idler pulleys to change the direction, and mounted the spoon off-kilter in a custom-designed and 3D printed bearing for a 7:1 gear ratio.
The belt is a cut-up exercise band and has very obvious flaws, but it was a two-day solo project involving custom parts and a belt drive (a mechanism which was new to me) and it worked. I’m pretty proud of it.
Ignore the near-fall at the end of the video.
